Maha Shivratri

Maha Shivrati, also called “the great night of Shiva” is a significant Hindu festival celebrated all night long in reverence of the mighty Lord Shiva. There are many myths and legends behind this day, but it is generally believed to be a time of great spiritual awakening. And is celebrated on a full moon night with people coming together to sing hymns and praises to Shiva. Devotees also visit Shiva temples, where the Shivalinga is bathed with milk, honey and water; and offer fruits and beetle leaves while chanting prayers.
