  Gangtok awarded the Cleanest Tourism Destination; 4 things not to miss when you are there
   
 

The Ministry of Tourism has named Gangtok the Cleanest Tourism Destination in India. Here are a few things you must do when you travel to the place.

The idea of travelling to Sikkim makes most of us travellers really excited. After all, the lush green mountains, the waterfalls, and the snow-capped peaks are just too beautiful. But now, here's one more thing that is all set to make the state capital Gangtok a bigger tourist attraction.
The city of Gangtok has been awarded as the Cleanest Tourism Destination by the Union Ministry of Tourism at a time when the Swachh Bharat Mission is in full swing in the country.
The award was handed over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few days back in the national capital. he Sikkim delegation participated in a workshop organised by the Urban Development and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation for implementing the flagship programme, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban and Gramin), at Vigyan Bhawan, in New Delhi. The workshop was inaugurated by the PM Modi and attended by Union Ministers of the concerned departments, chief ministers of many states and ministers in-charge of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Chandigarh and Mysore on the other hand, were felicitated for 'Clean Cities in million plus population' category.


  Telangana's Bathukamma Festival Enters Guinness Book Of World Records
   
  Telangana state festival 'Bathukamma' today entered the Guinness Book of World Records as 9,292 women participated in the ceremony at LB Stadium that was also attended by Tennis star Sania Mirza here.

They achieved this feat despite bad weather and as they danced around bathukamma (flower stack, arranged with different unique seasonal flowers most of them with medicinal values).

Guinness world record representative Jaisimha told ANI, "Today we were here to witness and officiate the event. There was a heavy rain today but the women stayed back despite and we now congratulate the government and the people of Telangana for entering Bathukamma in the Guinness book of world records with 9,292 people on October 8 2016. Miss Planet India Rashmi Thakur, who was attending the celebrations, said, "It is a proud moment for Telangana and its people who achieved the task on a very short notice as its been only two years of the KCR government and even as it was raining."
