  AccorHotels opens new Mercure in Hyderabad
   
  AccorHotels has announced the opening of the Mercure Hyderabad KCP, the midscale brand’s fourth property in India and its first in the city.

Located in the centre of Hyderabad, 21km from the airport, the new hotel has 128 rooms and suites, plus three food and beverage outlets, a rooftop fitness centre and meeting space.

“The opening of Mercure Hyderabad KCP marks yet another milestone for AccorHotels’ expansion and growing brand presence in the country,” said Jean-Michel Cassé, AccorHotels’ senior vice president of operations for India.

“Mercure Hyderabad KCP’s launch takes our combined room inventory in the city to 869 rooms, making AccorHotels the largest hotel operator in Hyderabad.”

Kavitha Dutt Chitturi, executive director of KCP added; “Hyderabad has witnessed rapid growth in the IT and pharma[ceutical] sector in the recent past, with leading MNCs (multinational corporations) making a beeline to the city. This has resulted in an increase in the number of business travellers to the city. Mercure Hyderabad KCP joins AccorHotels existing Indian Mercure hotels in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Lavasa.

  IHG adds two Holiday Inn Express hotels in India
   
  InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened two new Holiday Inn Express Hotels in India, located in Delhi and Chennai.
Holiday Inn Express Chennai is located on Old Mahabalipuram Road and offers 136 rooms, while Holiday Inn Express New Delhi is positioned at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport and has 93 rooms.
Both properties will feature Holiday Inn Express’ standard services, such as free Wi-Fi and breakfast, a choice of pillows, a self-service business centre and laundry room, and a 24-hour fitness centre.
“Holiday Inn Express is really gaining momentum in India as we continue to expand our brand portfolio across the country,” said Shantha de Silva, IHG’s head of Southwest Asia.
“The brand offers guests everything they need and nothing they don’t while being situated in easily accessible locations. We’re excited to be opening the doors of these two hotels and we’re confident they will be the number one choice for smart travellers visiting New Delhi and Chennai.”
IHG now operates its Holiday Inn Express brand in four Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad.

  Lebua to open luxury hotel in Lucknow
   
  Lebua Hotels & Resorts has confirmed plans to open a new luxury property in Lucknow, the capital of India’s Uttar Pradesh state.

Scheduled to launch on 25 April 2016, the new Lebua Lucknow will offer a total of 41 rooms and suites, all of which come equipped with balconies or terraces, bathtubs, complimentary Wi-Fi, satellite TVs and coffee and tea making facilities. The hotel will officially take bookings from 01 May 2016.
Other facilities at the hotel include a swimming pool, Indian and Italian restaurants, a lounge bar, business centre and conference and banqueting space, including the Baradari Ballroom which can accommodate up to 225 guests.

The hotel is located 14km from Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport.

Lebua Lucknow will become the brand’s third hotel in India, joining the existing Lebua Resort and Lebua Lodge at Amer, both of which are located in Jaipur. The company also operates the landmark Lebua Hotel in Bangkok, which is home to Sirocco, the world’s highest open air restaurant.

  Shangri-La’s Hambantota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka
   
  On June 1, Shangri-La opens the first of two new-build properties, a 300-room beachfront golf resort in Hambantota on the south coast, about an hour from the famous Yala National Park. A 500-room hotel is slated to open in Colombo next year.

Sprawling across 58ha, Shangri-La’s Hambantota Resort & Spa is the first in Sri Lanka to have its own golf course and also includes a day spa with 12 treatment rooms, a dive centre, health and children’s clubs, freeform and lap pools, and a cultural village where guests can meet local artisans and buy their wares.

All guestrooms afford garden or ocean views from a terrace or balcony and feature the usual deep luxury that is a Shangri-La trademark: plush robes, zillion thread-count sheets, big bath tubs, extra-large towels, pillow menus and state-of-the-art technology. The fit-out is urbane but relaxed; the colours neutral with a nod to typical Sri Lankan design features, notably timber floors and teak and rattan furniture. The room inventory includes 26 suites with private butler service.

The resort is located a four-hour drive from Colombo and is 35km from the nearest airport.
