“A journey is not about the places you visit, but the stories you bring home to share”

The Portuguese spent 400 years in Diu. They built The Portuguese spent 400 years in Diu. They built a fort, ruled the island, and may have helped shape one of India's most striking cave labyrinths in the process.

It is believed that the Portuguese quarried building material from the rock formations outside the fort walls, leaving behind a network of tunnels, arches, and hollowed chambers that were further shaped by natural processes over time. Sunlight filters through openings in the rock, illuminating passages that disappear into darkness. Local folklore also holds that Portuguese soldiers hid in these same caves during Operation Vijay in 1961, when India liberated Diu from Portuguese rule.

The fort still stands. The caves it may have helped create are just as extraordinary. Had you heard of Naida Caves before today? Tell us in the comments. To explore India beyond the obvious, reach out at engage@creative.travel

Most people know Qutub Minar. Very few know what l Most people know Qutub Minar. Very few know what lies beyond it.

Behind the minaret stretches 200 acres of largely overlooked history. A dusk walk through Mehrauli Archaeological Park moves through 1,000 years of Delhi's history: a tomb where India's first true arch and dome appeared, a stepwell carved deep into the earth, and a mosque whose stillness feels entirely removed from the city outside its walls. Over 50 historic monuments, many tucked away from the usual Delhi trail.

Qutub Minar is just the beginning. To experience Delhi this way, reach out at engage@creative.travel.

Freedom, for India, has always meant the space to Freedom, for India, has always meant the space to hold multitudes. It is a land of countless languages, faiths, cultures, and traditions, all coexisting in one nation. That coming together, without losing what makes each part distinct, is the true spirit of Indian freedom.

This freedom was hard-won. On 15th August 1947, India gained independence after nearly 200 years of British rule, a moment shaped by decades of sacrifice and resolve.

Today, it is marked with pride across the country. The Prime Minister hoists the tricolour at the Red Fort in Delhi. At the same time, schools, communities, and institutions everywhere echo the same spirit: flag-hoisting, patriotic songs, cultural performances, parades, and skies dotted with kites flown by children and adults alike.

Independence Day is a reminder that freedom is not just a date in history, but a living, breathing celebration of unity in diversity, carried forward every single day.

The Creative Travel family of brands sincerely wishes you a Happy Independence Day!

Freedom means something different to each of us. F Freedom means something different to each of us. For some, it’s the freedom to explore. For others, to create, dream, question, or simply be themselves.

This Independence Day, we asked our team: What does freedom look like to you?

Here’s to the freedom to imagine differently, create boldly and travel freely.
Here’s to freedom, in all its forms.

Happy Independence Day from all of us.
The Himalayas were once a sea. The Kali Gandaki Go The Himalayas were once a sea. The Kali Gandaki Gorge still carries the proof.

Cutting between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, the Kali Gandaki forms what is described as the deepest gorge in the world. Within its riverbed lie shaligrams: black, spiral-shaped ammonite fossils over 140 million years old, formed when this part of the Himalayas was still beneath an ancient ocean. They are found nowhere else on earth. In Hinduism, they are revered as natural manifestations of Lord Vishnu, one of the only objects considered sacred without any consecration ritual.

Bhutan measures its success by happiness. Spend a Bhutan measures its success by happiness. Spend a day in one of its villages, and you begin to understand why.

Along the riverbanks and hillsides of Paro and Punakha, farmhouses built from stone, wood, and clay rise to three stories, constructed without a single nail, using techniques that also shaped Bhutan's grand dzongs. A visit here moves through the rhythms of daily village life: preparing Suja– the traditional salted butter tea, trying your hand at archery, and learning Khuru, Bhutan's traditional dart game.

Unhurried, unscripted, and entirely genuine. If you'd like to experience Bhutan this way, reach out at engage@creative.travel

This past Sunday, our team swapped their desks for This past Sunday, our team swapped their desks for the running track at the Corpo Jumble 2026, held at Karma Lakelands in Gurugram. It's India's biggest inter-corporate running league, organised by Perfect Fitness Solutions and Coach Ravinder, bringing together teams from companies across the country to run, sweat and cheer each other on.

Watching them push through was genuinely inspiring. It showed the same commitment and resilience they bring to their work every day, just on a different kind of track. A good reminder that wellness doesn't always wait for a gym or a weekend, sometimes it just needs a starting line. From everyone at Creative Travel, a big cheer for our runners!

Some landscapes are beautiful from the ground. The Some landscapes are beautiful from the ground. The Annapurna Range is extraordinary from 3,000 feet above it.

A hot air balloon ride over Pokhara lifts you above Phewa Lake as Machapuchare, Dhaulagiri, and the Annapurna peaks take shape on the horizon. At sunset, warm light moves across snow-covered summits and settles on the water below. Thirty minutes in the air, and Pokhara becomes an entirely different place.

There are views that stay with a traveller long after the trip ends. This is one of them. If you'd like to build Nepal journeys around moments like this, reach out at engage@creative.travel

One of India's greatest stepwells spent centuries One of India's greatest stepwells spent centuries buried under silt. The silt is the reason it survived.

Built in 1063 CE by Queen Udayamati as a memorial to her husband, Rani ki Vav in Patan descends seven levels into the earth, its walls lined with over 500 principal sculptures and more than 1,000 minor ones. When archaeologists uncovered it in the 20th century, the sculptures were in near-perfect condition, sealed from centuries of weathering by the very sediment that had hidden them. Today, it appears on India's 100 rupee note.

The Letchmi Hills Trek in Munnar moves through four distinct landscapes in a single half-day: tea plantations, high-altitude grasslands, shola forests, and a private coffee and cardamom plantation tucked into the hills. Starting at 1,420 metres and climbing to nearly 1,950 metres, the trail follows a ridge with views that stretch as far as Anamudi, the highest peak in the Western Ghats outside the Himalayas.

A craft introduced by the Portuguese over 400 year A craft introduced by the Portuguese over 400 years ago is still being kept alive by hand in a small coastal town in southern Sri Lanka.

Beeralu, or bobbin lace making, has been passed down through generations since it arrived with Portuguese traders. Today it survives almost exclusively in the south, where the Dikwella Lace Centre trains women in the craft, offering fair trade opportunities and employment alongside a lace museum where visitors can watch intricate patterns take shape, stitch by stitch, over weeks and months of careful work.

Some traditions survive because someone decided they were worth saving. If you'd like to experience Sri Lanka this way, reach out at engage@creative.travel

Buddha Dordenma stands 169 feet tall on a hilltop above Thimphu. Its gilded bronze form is visible from across the valley. Inside, across multiple meditation halls, sit 125,000 smaller Buddha statues: 100,000 at eight inches tall and 25,000 at twelve inches, every one cast in bronze and gilded in gold. Its construction is said to have fulfilled an 8th-century prophecy that a great statue would one day rise here to bring peace and happiness to the world.

Just outside Bhubaneswar stands a 9th-century temp Just outside Bhubaneswar stands a 9th-century temple that most of India has never heard of.

The Hirapur Yogini Temple is circular, open to the sky, and ringed by 64 intricately carved stone goddesses associated with tantric tradition. There are only a handful of Yogini temples surviving in the country. This is one of the finest. At dawn, a temple priest conducts a traditional puja ritual as your guide walks you through the site's history, tantric philosophy, and architectural significance.

The experience continues into a nearby bell metal crafts village, where artisans still shape brass and bronze using techniques centuries old.

India has a leaning temple. It tilts at 9 degrees, India has a leaning temple. It tilts at 9 degrees, more than twice the angle of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Ratneshwar Mahadev stands on the banks of the Ganga near Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi, built in the late 18th century. Legend says it was raised by a woman named Ratna Bai in her mother's honour, and that a curse on an unpaid maternal debt caused it to lean as punishment. In reality, its low placement on waterlogged foundations along the riverbank is what caused the tilt, leaving it partially submerged for much of the year.
