HH Dalai Lama added to Creative's list of honoured guests
Creative Travel is proud to include HH The Dalai Lama to its proud long list of some of the world's most well known personalities handled. Creative Travel's conference division (Plan it!) was the conference manager for the first ever International Conference on Terrorism, organised by the Jama Masjid United Forum (JMUF), an NGO, conceived by the former Shahi Imam Maulana Syed Abdulla Bukhari and blessed by the patronage of the present Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Delhi, Maulana Syed Ahmed Bukhari.

Covered by over 200 National and International media, this one day event had an impressive list of speakers including the Former President of Afghanistan, Chief justice of Maldives, 2 Indian Union Ministers, 2 of India's most prominent Chief Ministers (from Kashmir and Assam), Internationally acclaimed human rights activists, Special representatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia & President of Libya and religious leaders of the world's major faiths.

The guest of honor was The Dalai Lama who spoke on a range of subjects. Pictured is Rohit Kohli of Creative Travel welcoming HH to the conference.

The day ended with a historic visit of HH Dalai Lama to India's largest Mosque and his being a part of the evening Islamic prayers.

Creative Travel was proud to handle this historic event, one that will go down in history.

India in the Summer.....

Going back to India and the summer. There is a lot of misconception out there why India cannot be visited in summer. Not all true. There is a lot one can do in summer and the best part is that we can leverage our volumes from the season into some great deals into the off season.

Some reasons to visit India in the Summer include -

  • The best value possible - you get to stay in some of the finest hotels in the world at prices that you would pay for a 4 star hotel in the winter.

  • For wildlife lovers, late April and May are the best times of year to see the famous Indian tiger. This elusive animal stays closer to the water during this time, and is more easily seen.

  • It’s cooler than you think! Particularly in the desert regions of Rajasthan, the peak heat is between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm, when you could relax and enjoy the hotel. Sightseeing can be done in relative comfort in the early mornings and the evenings. The Indian summer is not hotter than many other destinations that you would consider in the summer months - Dubai, Spain, Miami, etc.

  • Enjoy the monuments without the crowds - you have the luxury of visiting the monuments in the cities you visit, without having hundreds of tour buses present at the same time.

  • Enjoy the hotels - with lower summer occupancies, you can enjoy the hotels to their fullest. Use the spa without having to book it in advance, step into the restaurants without a reservation, have the pool to yourself.....

If you would like to explore how we can help you make India a special destination to sell this summer, let us know. We have some amazing deals from our partners like the Taj group and Oberoi hotels and many more.

Kashmir is abuzz with tourists, flight rates at all-time high
Kashmir valley is abuzz these days with tourist arrivals, air tickets to the valley are at an all time high and the hotel industry is jostling to accommodate bookings, a phenomenon witnessed after a gap of nearly two decades. The hectic tourism schedule for this ’Paradise on Earth’ can be gauged from the fact that prices of even low cost carriers are touching the skies. With tourists arriving everyday, hotels in Srinagar and other resorts like Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg are facing a room crunch.

India’s yogis all at sea
SuperStar Virgo recently hosted a group of 1,000 yogis from India on a 6-day 5-night South China Sea cruise. The group was the largest party onboard since SuperStar Virgo’s deployment to Hong Kong in April. It was also the largest single Indian group visiting Hong Kong. A series of onboard activities were arranged for the 1,000 yogis under the guidance of yoga master Swami Ramdevji. The cruise took the yogis to Halong Bay in Vietnam, Sanya and Xiamen in China. Another 1,000-plus group from India will board SuperStar Virgo on June 11 for a 3-day 2-night cruise to Xiamen.

1,000 yrs later, a temple gets finishing touches
The huge linga in an 11th-century Shiva temple in the small village of Bhojpur, near Bhopal faces west instead of facing east, as prescribed by vastu. Rising to a height of 22 feet, this massive linga - made of a single block of polished stone - is believed to be the tallest in the country. However, for some unknown reasons, this temple never got completed. A walk around the temple complex reveals huge blocks of stones, many of them with intricate engravings and, presumably, ready to be used. Over 300 such finished and unfinished stones lie scattered over an area of 5 km around the temple. The Archeological Society of India has now undertaken the task of completing this temple after a thousand years. For centuries, the temple was without a ceiling, with its Shiva linga exposed to the open sky and at the mercy of the elements. The Shiva linga has now been meticulously restored and the open ceiling covered. With the temple now almost restored, the ASI is hoping to get it declared as a World Heritage site soon.

Nepal dumps its royal family: Palace to become a Museum
Nepal has swept away more than two centuries of history by sending the monarchy packing. King Gyanendra’s palace will be turned into a museum, according to the new government. An overwhelming majority of an elected assembly, charged with drawing up a new constitution, backed the creation of a republic in the Himalayan nation, which endured 10 years of war against Maoist rebels, who are now the dominant partners in the new political firmament. The new resolution states that Nepal will become "an independent, indivisible, sovereign, secular and an inclusive democratic republic nation". It adds: "All the privileges enjoyed by the king and royal family will automatically come to an end."
